Final Trustland Report for 2208-9 is due Nov. 20. This was reviewed, email addresses corrected.

We have purchased TI-84 hubs for math, Literacy Circle books, and paid for professional development.

Goals were listed (see report) and results discussed. UBSCT test results were not as high as anticipated.

The English Dept. is using "My Access" that helps correct English and writing assignments before they are turned in. Every student has a term paper in every class in some schools. We are adding more.

CRT Scores – Language +6.19%, Math -10>69%, Science +3.34%

Aaron said that the Legislature is no happy with the math curriculum. There is a new test that was given for 2 years, but the pass rate has changed. The state evaluated the test for difficulty, then tweaks it. That changes the comparison. Math at the school only tests Algebra I, which means that the higher level math students are not tested here. Colleges are looking for improvement.

Senior Math CP is a new class that will be offered, which is College Prep Math., and next year will add Stats Probablility in Sports. The school has info from a Math Conference in Provo – the Math teachers really care about kids and want them to succeed.

2007 2008

AP Tests Taken 234 250

AP Tests Passed 136 156

58% 62%

Trustland Expenses: $35,900 salaries

$10,400 professional development

$16,100 supplies

$48,200 technology

$5,000 books

-------------------

$115,819

Our budget went $12,000 over last year that was spent in advance for materials for this year so that they were here before school started.

Regarding the diversity assembly that made the newspaper –Ð State and Federal Government require the school to identify subgroups and work with those that are struggling. We don’Õt apologize for trying to help kids. The Counseling Dept. had a comprehensive guidance review 2 years ago and were challenged to help ethnic groups that are struggling. This year American Indians were added. Counselor Becky Teirny is working on the program to stress the importance of staying in school and graduating. They did invite Dave Tafoya to speak to the minority groups as part of that, since he is a prominent figure in the community who is also a minority. Tailoring things to minorities is similar to the security teams at the mall and other places that target who they watch. The school had 12-15 calls over his. It caused a split where we are trying to bring the school together. Similar things will happen in the future, but we ay change how it is handled to change the perception.

Mr. Pfister presented the state membership list for all members to sign. The new board contact list was also approved and will be emailed to everyone by Tami.

The 2008-9 final report is due Nov. 20. We will finalize at Nov. 10 meeting.

New teacher- Devin Rusch was hired 2 days before school started to teach welding. The room is being updated.

New Administrator – Scott Palmer was moved to Roy Jr. High to fill a vacated position. Teri Spiers, who taught health here and was a counselor at North Ogden Jr. High is out new intern.

Dale told about the "What’s Up" email that each school sends to the School Board. He will email that to the CC board.

RHS is using Trustland money to send 3 teachers to the ASCD Math Conference in Provo. CTE is sending 2 more.

Drug Testing is going well. Students have been receptive. If retests need to be done, the testing company does those for free. If a positive test is indicated, there is no discipline report filed, nor does it go too the police. The student must sit out 2 weeks of competition. It is meant to be a deterrent and help for those with a problem.

Athletics – Dale has had lots of calls about coaches and records. The teams are working hard to be competitive in 5A. The school can petition the state to change back to 4A and the end of the 2010-2011 school year. There was some talk of changing boundaries, but the school enrollments are not that different. Rod Belnap, an Asst. Principal at Weber, is working on a doctorate report on the positive impact of sports on kids. There has been some discussion about a softball exception for Roy, It was justified.

Enrollment as of Oct. 1 without self-contained resource:

5A Roy 1467 (down 30 from last Oct. 1)

4A Bonneville -1305

5A Weber – 1778

5A Fremont – 1659

If we include Self contained, it will increase about 60. Special Ed has less than 4 regular classes. When numbers were submitted 2 years ago for classification and boundary changes, Roy had 1607. When a student was asked about going to 5A, he responded to Cheryl, "5A, 4A, game starts at 7." We have capacity for 1800 in the building.

Flu Shot Clinic – Nov. 12 3-7:30 here in Commons area – based on availability, they will have both seasonal and H1N1. This would be free to the public.

There was a discussion on policy if police want to question a student. Although we have a School Resource officer, there is a distinct line between school and police. The office must have probable cause to investigate; the school only needs a reasonable suspicion to search lockers, etc. on campus. If other police depts. want to interview a student, the parent must be notified and approve, and can be present. We can also request that a school administrator be present. They may be turned down if parents cannot be contacted or refuse.

Tour – Welding Lab – new booths, machines, and ventilation. Greenhouse – plant and fish. Custodial shed – student built in construction class.

Mr. Moore announced a new program to target sophomores who are credit deficient (have 4 credits or less from Jr High – should have 6 or 7). They sign a contract, along with their parents, that they will attend EO every week from 7:30-8:15 am to work on make-up work and current homework. They also meet Wednesdays from 3:00-6:00 pm with Brandy Lee to make up lost credit. They agree to pass all classes this year. Each administrator has a list with approximately 25 students. Not all will agree to this program. If they cannot keep up, they will attend PM school. Some 9th grade classes like Geography and English can only be made up with packets.
